One part of my excellent day: buying Hunter Shea’s book, The Montauk Monster, at B&N.

Today I had a marvelous summer weekend day. In the late morning, Ogre and I went to a picturesque town for the express purpose of buying candy. We ended up taking a historical tour on a trolley. (I have a story to share about a deeply pissed off — or straight-up evil — husband to share, but I have to do a little research first.) In the heat of the afternoon, we curled up on the sofa and watched a documentary about Metallica. In the evening, we took a twilight walk in our own picturesque town, through a gentle, warm rain.
Even with all that goodness, the highlight of my day may have happened as we were heading out of town this morning. We swung into our Barnes and Nobel store. Look what we found:
Hunter, it looks like there was space for four books in the slot, and I took the second to last. You’re selling books in Minnesota.
Do you see it? Second shelf down, last book on the right? That’s right, Hunter’s latest book is in general release. How awesome is that?
Of course I bought it 🙂
I just had to commemorate the event.
I’ll bet it’s in a store near you too. Wouldn’t it be fun to go pick up a copy? If you’re on the fence, allow me to share a link that might convince you that this is a must-have summer read:
From Publishers Weekly:
“This affectionate homage to a bygone genre is redolent of sunscreen and nostalgia …”
Hunter’s most recent blog post shares a few more reviews and captures the buzz pretty well too.
And now it’s time to sleep. (Or read a new book, though my intention is to read it on the plane when I go to visit my daughter in North Carolina in about a week.)
Sounds like the most awesome day for you ever!! Glad you had a surprise day, I LOVE THOSE!! I’m looking forward to your story about the trolly and evil husband, don’t leave us in suspense for to long.
Hmm. A mystery commenter. Do we know each other in real life?
Thanks for coming by, and I’ll tell what I know soon 🙂
Looking good, Renae! So glad you had a wonderful day!
Thanks, Stacy. I’m actually not a fan of how I look in this shot, but hey, I was just kicking it on a Saturday.
Reblogged this on MARSocial Author Business Enhancement Interviews.
Yes, selling in MN! I was just traveling across the midwest and found it in every store I went to, so I know there’s plenty of copies out there for people to adopt. 🙂 Thank you so much for picking up a copy and letting the world know about it. You are THE best!
You’re welcome, Hunter. I should dig through the interview and find the section in which we discussed The Montauk Monster in more depth. At this point, I’m betting it would be good for my hit count 🙂 I’m so pleased you’re getting all this good buzz.
