1st Jack O Lantern of the season & the twisted ding dong ditch gift prototype.

If you’ve been following along for the last few weeks, you know I intended to carve a Jack before October 1st. I didn’t get it done, even though I bought the pumpkin in plenty of time.

You also know that my daughter has come to town to celebrate the season with us, and that we plan to do some twisted ding dong ditch. (The twist is that we will leave behind a nice little treat.)

Tonight, my holiday really began. Instead of writing about what we’re going to do, we DID.

As I carved this guy, I felt my shoulders relax for the first time in a long time. It is good to be quiet sometimes.

Now, I’m going to go hang out with both of my kids some more 🙂

Happy Halloween!

I have to get on the ball. We still have to carve our first! …pumpkin, that is.

  2. I’m never able to carve pumpkins more than a few days before Halloween – otherwise, they turn moldy. Not sure if it’s the climate in this part of the world, or just really moist pumpkins. But your jack-o-lantern looks great!

We’re going to be at a hotel in Uruguay on Halloween, so I don’t think a pumpkin is in the cards for us this year. So carve an extra one for me.

  4. We usually have a pumpkin carving party with my kids, my neices and nephews all carving pumpkins 🙂

    Love the twisted ding-dong-ditch!

    • I can’t wait to actually do it. I thought this little twisted tree was so appropriate for the gift. We’re deciding if we’re going to fill the root-area of the bag with candies or rocks to weight it down. If one showed up on your doorstep, would you think to untwist the tree or tear it open to look for treats?
